my portraitTechnically creative or creatively technical? People lean towards either left brain or right brain thinking. You're either creative, or your thoughts and ideas are based on logic. Very few people are able to switch between the two, or use a combination of creative thinking and technical problem solving.

I was born an artist. What first started off "doodling", as early as I can remember holding a pencil, has evolved to sketching and quality illustrations at a very young age. I've gained my technical know how and problem solving skills through diligence, and persistency, never breaking down whenever a problem arose. Soon, solving technical issues just became natural. It was only time before I bridged the two together, coming up with creative solutions to technical problems, or find technical workflows to streamline my creative process.

With a passion to broaden my horizons I took these creative ideals and found my way into graphic design and photography. It wasn't until I would look through old photographs I took to realize my talent in that particular medium. Sometimes we can be the harshest critic when it comes to our own work, that is until we actually take a step back to appreciate the things we've done.

In early 2005 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. It was during my bouts with chemo where I would spend much of my time in bed, occasionally making use of my sketchbooks. During then, I would reminisce about my childhood when I enjoyed watching all the traditional Disney movies. I remembered how I told myself I wanted to become a Disney animator when I grew up. But times have changed since my childhood days and everything has moved on to CG. That didn't stop me. After finishing up my chemo and radiation therapy I decided to pursue that childhood dream. I went back to school and after several years in an "accellerated immersion" program I came out with a Bachelor's in Animation and Visual Effects.

After many years and countless hours working on projects I've finally found my knack in CG. Being committed to learning all aspects of the CG Film, TV, and Games industries, I can complete almost any task at hand. But where my combination of left brain and right brain thinking shine is in Creature FX, which include hair, fur, and cloth setups and simulations. So technically creative, or creatively technical? …Both
